VoIPify & Free Calls

I have been a VoIPify customer for a number of years and paid for each number plus calls as used. Call rates are excellent and makes up for the number rental charge. Service from them has been excellent too.

Today, I received a nice email from them:

Dear Xxxxxx,

As part of our service improvement plans, from 1st May 2023, your account will automatically include 200 minutes of free calls.

These minutes will automatically apply to all 01 and 02 mainland (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) but excluding Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey. Any calls made in excess of the 200 minutes will continue to be billed at our standard rates, which have not changed.

Where an account has multiple extensions (devices), these are shared between all devices as the allowance is per account.

If you have any questions regarding this change, please do get in touch and we will be happy to assist further.

I would second that.

Last year: When I was searching for an alternative to Sipgate on another thread and after a recommendation by MHC I opened a Voipity Account in 2022 and now I have both accounts running on an N300a.

None of that Open Ended Direct Debit risk.

Regarding Voipify; I did not like it, (last month), when Voipify put the base price up by 60p to £4.80 per month (including VAT) before calls but this new decision to add 200 minutes of free calls could be a game change for Voipify as since they provide a good service their customer base should increase.

Voipify provide a good VOIP Phone service and at base cost of £4,80 per month (including VAT) for one line with 200 minutes of free calls and generally much cheaper call rates after that I am quite happy to stay with them.

After the 200 free minutes of free calls, (which starts on After 1st May 2023), is used most call rates are cheaper than others, (if you ignore 03 calls which can cost almost 2p per minute including VAT). UK calls are only about 0.6p per minute including VAT and the call rates ex-VAT can be found here;

I am looking for a VOIP with some call bundle and this looked ideal, cant see them on the website

I would presume it was for both new and old customers but I do not know.

A thing that I like about Voipify is that, (unlike Sipgate who I still have Sipgate Starter with), Voipify do respond to phone and email queries in a timely manner so it would be best to ask them before signing up.

Once again; I don't know if 03 numbers are included in the 200 free minutes; Personally, I suspect that 03 numbers are not included since the Voipify 03 rate per minute was around the same rate that other VOIP providers charge for all calls and the Voipify call rate for 01/02 numbers was much lower than other VOIP providers at around 0.6p per minute including VAT.

Anyway ditched it because lack of reviews. Think I will go with A&A, just want to find out if I can port my old number to them at a later date if I sign up now with another number they provide.

Looked at Voipfone but they change £3 a month for ported numbers, I thought it was a one off charge for porting and then just call charges after. Think AA port for £15 then 1.50 a month.

A small clarification for Voipfone
Porting a number costs £20 + VAT
Monthly charge: £3 + VAT

Maybe AA is cheaper but without knowing the call costs for each company, it is difficult to know, Certainly with Voipfone, calls between subscribers are free.

What worries a lot of people is that with AA you can't cap your call spend; a useful feature against fraudulent use of your account.

There are call plans with Voipfone but I have found that they would not save me any money against PAYG.

I haven't included the porting cost as its a one off charge.
AA will work out cheaper as their monthly charge is only £1.73 with VAT a number. I emailed them to ask if I can port my number over at a later stand and they said it is fine as you can cease the number you sign up with.

Voipfone works out as £1.80 a month for Flex and £3.00 (£5.40 with VAT) for a number ported over. So that £3.60 odd extra could go on calls with AA.

Although Voipfone have the cheaper calls out of the two.

Voipfone:(not sure if they include VAT)
To call a local a number it shows up as

Cost Per Minute: 1p
Connection Cost: Free
Minimum Cost: 1p (inc mobiles)

AA:

Make calls to +441296 for 2.4p minimum charge
1.5ppm peak
1.25ppm offpeak
1ppm at weekends (Including VAT).

I read somewhere you can set the account to 0 if you don't want any outgoing calls. Might just have an account with a afew pounds in it so don't get charged extra once its empty, if that will work.
