Computer speakers buzzing

[link to this post]

Hi,

My Voip dect phone which I just set up in my study is causing my desktop speakers to buzz every time I use the phone. I can't move the phone any further away from the speakers (currently 4ft away) The speakers are quite old, could this be part of the problem as the shielding is not there or is there another way of rectifying the problem? new speakers?

Any advice please?

There are two fixes: either replace the speakers (because they shoudn't be rectifying a local RF field) or wrap the leads around ferrite rings or ferrite chokes placed as near as possible to the speakers. Something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dreamtop-Clip-Ferrite-Suppr... should do the trick.

Hi,

I tried the ferrite chokes as I already had a few sitting in a box but they made no difference.
When looking for the chokes I found a old set of cheap computer speakers which I swapped around and this did the trick, no more interference.

Thanks for your advice.
