VoIP with Vodafone thg3000 router/hub

[link to this post]

Hi folks,
I've been fitted with full fibre 900 from vodafone with a THG3000 router/hub. From having a quick search it seems this hub is a bit basic in terms of functionality (e.g. VPN etc... ). I have VoIP and this box has a connector for a telephone. I am not too familiar with the VoIP side of things and was wondering if a better hub was available (even for purchase) that would support VoIP.
I also have a BT Business Smarthub 6 (Type A) which I purchased for different reasons - could this be used somehow or perhaps another better one supporting VoIP is available for purchase?
Many thanks for any help.
Regards,
Imran

What exactly is the VOIP box? Do you wish to use any wired and or DECT phones?

Are you trying to use the Vodafone router with your own VoIP service? If you are, then it can't be used in that way.

Yes the router is the Vodafone thg3000. It has two sockets for telephones.

Was wondering if there is a better router that can be purchased as thg3000 seems very basic in terms of configuration.

Vodafone do offer an "Ultra Hub", but I think it's only for Pro II customers (i.e. you can't buy it). If you use your own router, you may struggle to make use of digital voice (according to a thread on Vodafone's forum it is possible to use SIP, but...).

I was going to go for the Pro II but saw that the backup broadband was 4G only. For the price difference, I can get close to a 5g unlimited sim and use that instead which is why I didnt go for the Pro II.

Maybe its better to stick with the thg3000 for now..

Thanks for the info BTW.

You can use your own router. Ask Vodafone for your PPPoE username and password as you need these if you want to use your own router.

If you want to use your Vodafone Digital Voice service with your own hardware too, this is possible. See:

Thanks but I know that already. I was asking if there was a better router that supported telephony like the thg3000.
