Yay.com Porting Partner

[link to this post]

Does anyone know who Yay.com does their porting with, trying to change to AAISP for VOIP and they say that Yay does not have their own porting agreement and use a partner e.g. AQL, Gammer, BT etc

Anybody know for certain who they are?

Port it to Voipfone then port back out to AAISP. Voipfone don't charge any porting fee's and you definitely can port from Voipfone to AAISP.

YayYay Ltd (which is the company that is yay.com) shows as being unsupported for porting to Magrathea except for non-geographic numbers (eg an 01/02 number, nope, but something like an 0845 they can).

So anyone using Magrathea is out.

Does this mean I am stuffed. They ported my number in, so they should be able to port it out as well.

I thought that there was an Ofcom requirement that numbers could be ported?

Or is that something that is coming, rather that already the case?

Cheers!

Not exactly.

You may not be able to port in both directions with any given pair of providers...

...and not every provider can port from any other.

Whoever you want to move TO should be able to tell you if they can accept FROM 'YayYay Ltd' as they'll either be the provider with a porting agreement *OR* they'll be able to check with the wholesaler(s) they use to see if anyone can accept it for them.

When we ported out of yay, it was simwood we selected with the company we were porting to. This was a few years ago now admittedly

I don't think the OFCOM requirement has kicked in yet - so might have to wait until then

Well it appears my number is held by LCP Colt, and have passed this info on to AAISP, so hopefully the porting can now go through - thanks to all for their input
