Please can someone tell me if the following is possible using either the Fritzbox 7590 or 7530 ?
I currently have FTTP with voip from an Altnet. I have two Yealink Desk phones however my provider only allows one SIP ID registration, so only one phone can be used.
I read that the Fritzbox is a PBX, does this mean that if I had either Frizbox I would register my providers details in the phone setup and then both phones could connect via their IP address to the Fritzbox?
I would not need to input the SIP details in each phone and they would just work as normal analogue phones or have I got this completely wrong?
I thought of the Fritzbox as I also have some old analogue phone that I could use and possibly add DECT phones as some time.

That can be done, and you are right with your assumptions
You set up your VoIP provider details on the Fritzbox (i,e, the FB registers with the provider), and then you add the IP phones as connected telephony devices:
See here for the full guide:

You can also connect up to six DECT phones (and ISDN and POTS phones as long as there are physical interfaces, 7530 only has one analogue port, 7590 has two analogue ports plus ISDN) and IP phones via WLAN (e.g. Fritz!Fon App on a smartphone).

It's a whole new world for a lot of people, many of whom will not have much technical savvy, and already causing problems for more vulnerable people. I can see my 'work load' from the family increasing when it's rolled out to our area.

Standalone SIP VOIP is not being "rolled out", and is entirely optional (although has lots of benefits).
For the majority of people, they'll take whatever voice service their ISP provides, and the ISP will supply it pre-configured on the router.
This applies especially to BT customers: the voice service is entirely locked down inside the router, so you don't even have the option of using your own devices with it.

The MSM already have stories of the problems with ISP provided voice services

What's MSM?
Of course, at any point in time, there will be some users with a problem.
However, the vast majority of people on BT digital voice have no problems. I also don't see a large number of complaints from Sky, who have been doing digital voice for years, or Zen.

Given multiple millions of people moved to digital voice, it's not unexpected that there will be a few problem corner cases. That doesn't mean the whole thing is broken.
Media have a vested interest in turning a dull story into a clickbait one.
