porting issue "Number not in service with LCP"

[link to this post]

Hi guys,

i've just a rejected port because below

"The number port request has been rejected due to Number not in service with LCP

We will now need to resubmit this porting request with a Pre-order Validation (POV) "

the number is with shell energy, whom is now with talk talk - previously octoplus energy, the number is live and working, so I'm confused as to why i can't move the number

I wonder if TalkTalk try and hold on to numbers? I have a friend whom with an original BT number moved to TalkTalk years before, couldn’t then move the number to Sky, had to get a new number. Long time before digital voice / VOIP stuff.

I had problems t'other year trying to port an analogue talktalk business number to talktalk residential digital voice, both sides said it should work, but no way would it work, I realise mine is a bit odd in having FTTP and analogue phone.

They aren't allowed to hold on to numbers like that. There does however have to be porting agreements in place between the providers.
Sky have been pretty poor at this for many years and going to/from Sky from many providers has often required the old number be abandoned same a new number issued.

LCP = Losing Communications Provider

The LCP needs to have registered to be part of the POV scheme but as that's Talktalk I would expect them to have done so.

Here's a pdf explaining it a bit.

Is it a TalkTalk number? What does https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm say the operator is?
