Gigaset N300

[link to this post]

Is anyone aware of any vulnerabilities with the Gigaset N300 unit?

To be clear - I am not suggesting there are any vulnerabilities.
I've tried the usual research (google) and not found anything.
I'm just trying to cover as much security as I can. This unit is on my router, presently with an IP in my "home" network.Presumably incoming connections would be caught in the router's firewall.

I do have the option of setting this up in its own Vlan which would give more isolation from the computers, tablets, etc. But that makes it less straightforward to login to when I want to make any configuration changes.

Has anyone any experience of this? Any thoughts?

I have two N300s. They are at different locations and work fine.

With VOIP the device at home connects to one or more VOIP ISPS which notify it about incoming calls. There are incoming connections.

Thanks,
these units do work well.

I'm not worried about "real" incoming call traffic.
What I was concerned about, goes back to stories I've heard in the past, about Voip PBXs being hacked. It seems the hacks allowed nefarious traffic coming into the PBX and then piggy-backing outgoing calls to premium numbers and international numbers.

Given that a PBX does something similar to these Gigaset units, my concern would be any similar vulnerability.
I have to say though that I'm not aware of any. Just asking around.

Just make sure its firmware is up to date, I think the latest version is 42.263 or above. Sorry for not knowing exactly but I have recently powered mine off as I no longer use VOIP.

I have two N300s. One is on version 42.263 and the other is in version 42.262.

When I try to update the 42.262 version, it says it is up to date won't update further!

My N300A has been on 42.262 for ages. It never admits to a later version when I request an update. I can't imagine that a .263 version would be significantly different.
I just checked my spare N300A and the story is the same.

This one is version 42.262
Just tried to do a manual update, and it says Can't do it, Up to Date.

This unit is a N300-IP , does not have the A. I don't know whether that's relevant for the Firmware version.

The N300 versions with and without answerphone and the N510 IP Pro all use the same firmware. The updating of Gigaset firmware has always been inconsistent with some hardware being on one version and others being on a different version. Currently Gigaset say its 42.262 dating back to May 2022

As a normal aged home user I just checked my N300IP and it is also on 42.263, I seem to remember updating it when I switched over to AAISP
