virgin media phone number

[link to this post]

have vm account broadband tv phone. how can i get my phone number from virgin. if i just swap to voip i am sure they will cancel my account and charge me hundreds for early termination. i only have this for my wife as she finds virgin tv easy to use. i have a special deal with which will end 22nd april 2025 and jump to 60pounds plus.which i am not willing to pay. if my missus wants tv she will have to get it on with a new account. she is the one who wants to keep our number , which we have had since the 1980's , i'm not phased about it. has anyone got suggestions i hate trying to get hold of a human on virgin to speak to!

Someone will correct me if I am wrong. You go to your new provider and ask them to take the number for you. You might need an authorization code from the losing supplier, much like with mobile phones. If so, the new provider should tell you what to do

Yep, so I suggest wait until April 2025, a couple of weeks before your contract is up, before you port the number.

You can of course set up a VOIP provider before then, and make sure it's all working - they'll allocate you a new number.

No point trying to speak to Virgin about this. They don't have a way to port the number out of your service whilst keeping the TV, and in any case as you've said already, you are in contract for both TV and phone, on a special combined price.

If the op is in contract, the port request will get rejected

I wouldn't bank on that. It might be accepted but a huge bill for early termination is raised.
