My transfer from landline to VOIP is due on 7th Nov. I have been setting up the GS HT801 in preparation from settings found further down this forum.
I have my ATA registered with AA server, which looks right but been reading the AA help pages about NAT and I am using a Plusnet Hub 2.
In anticipation of the go live date I have one question about the FX port settings. Everything seems set right but AA help pages mention the STUN server but I cant for the life of me find anywhere in the GS pages to set a STUN server.
Just the options of NAT Traversal: No, Keep-alive, STUN, Upnp, Auto and VPN.
Which to choose? Upnp is off in the router as it has risks.

I don't use Stun for any of my VOIP connections which includes A&A I could enter a Stun server on my Gigset N300.

So I am thinking Keep-alive or Auto. Difficult to test without being enabled.

Assuming it is a HT801 V1 - then advanced settings page - about half way down when the page opens.

So it is how did I miss that. Have set phasors to STUN and await the 7th to test.
NAT: Port Restricted Cone NAT (STUN)
So the above now appears on the status page instead of "unknown NAT."

Curious the phone led is flashing 3 times stops then flashes 3 times and repeat. It's not off hook flash or voicemail. Anyone know what it means?

LOL yes just like that. Disappears if I reboot the ATA. Been through the AA setup pages and couple of settings I have missed so have corrected that.

Disappears if I reboot the ATA. Could it be that you're seeing these issues because your service hasn't been ported yet?

Quite possible, only 2 days to wait.

I had something pretty similar happen when I moved to them. AA said it would sort itself out when port completes and it did
|
|
|
Well it's been up a day and hasn't done it again although I did change the registration expiry and re-registration settings to 10 mins and 5 mins respectively as per AA VOIP help pages. So maybe it was that.

Just had a thought. I bought a kenable RJ11 to BT socket and came across another listing with a similar which had works with Grandstream HT801. Reading further it says it has a ring capacitor in it for ringing. I am unable to test as its not ported yet so I have put a dangly broadband filter which is supposed to have a ring capacitor in it in series with the kenable adapter.
Have also ordered the RJ11 adapter with ring capacitor what do ya think? Passes all the tests on the HT801 test page with a REN of 0.053.

The question is does the phone you're going to use need a ring capacitor? a lot (not all) of phones nowadays only need two wires as they handle that aspect internally.

It's a Panasonic Dect so probably not only way to test is when it's ported.

I think I have worked out why the 3 flashes as it started again after swapping an RJ11 to BT adapter cable which allegedly contains a ring capacitor. It fails the Foreign Electromotive Forces Test and the Phone LED starts flashing after running the test and failing.
I have changed back to the old adapter cable and it has gone away and all tests pass. The VOIP port isn’t live yet so cant test ring capacity but only have to wait a day. Thanks for the help.

Mind sharing all the settings you changed to get it working?
I had it working perfectly until incoming calls stopped working so I rebooted the unit. I can no longer get the Grandstream to register with AAISP.
I'm behind CGNAT.

Are using the AA Stun server stun.aa.net.uk and set STUN on the fxs port page. The other settings I have changed are "Use STUN to detect network activity", NAT Traversal: STUN.
Have a look here

The status changed to registered after I enabled "Use STUN to detect network activity".
Still unable to receive incoming calls. My mobile reports 'invalid number', but at least I'm making progress.
Thanks.

I was getting that before my port went through. I could make outgoing calls at 10am on the 7th but mobile was saying invalid number. Then port was completed 12:50pm and I could get incoming calls.
Could be CGNAT problem or a BT error. I would think if it was CGNAT problem you would get busy tone. Funny how it worked initially.
I would contact AA support on Monday if it remains not working and have a look at the NAT page I linked to.
Other things I changed Will register to Primary Server if Primary Server responds, need to enable SIP OPTIONS/NOTIFY Keep Alive: Yes, SIP URI Scheme When Using TLS: SIP, SIP Registration: Yes, Unregister On Reboot: All, Register Expiration: 10 and Reregister before Expiration: 300 might stop registration expiring.
I used these settings as a checklist.
