Recolouring all reds in an image?

[link to this post]

Does anyone know if it is possible to change all red colours in an image to be all blue colours?

This change needs to be intelligent so only part red colours are changed to part blue colours etc?

For example, you had a red gradient and wanted to change this to a blue gradient and did not have a gradient tool and only colouring tools would that be possible?

I guess I am looking for a smart recolour option.

TIA

Yeah its possible what do you want to do it in?

Do you want it done on the fly by a script or in a program?

A manual process in Paint Shop Pro 7 ideally. Paint Shop Pro X / Photoshop CS1 if absolutely needs to be. Thanks.

It is only basic but I have found a simple method using Image - Swap Colors in IrfanView (seems to do a good job). Do you know of a method that gives you a bit more flexibility on the colours? TIA.

Could use replace colour, and use the fuzzy controls in ps cs to change how much colour is changed !. Or you could use a clipping mask from new layer and select hue and change the colour that way..

Theres a few ways to achieve what you want in photoshop!

In PSP X2 there is a colour replacer.

Select the area you want to colour.

Where the 'Flood Fill' tool is, click on the arrow next to it and select 'Color Changer'.

Select the colour you want to use in the color picker, change the tolerance if required and click the area you selected.

Don't know if the Color Changer was available in 7 or not.

A tolerance of 40 produced this, that what you are after? You'd still have to select the area manually (ie magic wand).

Edit: Just realised I went the other way, blue to red, but it'll obviously work the other way!
