Avagoo or 34SP

I have been looking for inexpensive UK reseller hosting, and I have come down to a shortlist of 2, namely Avagoo.com and 34SP.com. Both are within my budget and both offer the facilities that I want. However - which one to choose?

Does anyone have any experience with either of these companies? I am particularly interested in: (a) Reliability, (b) Quality of support, (c) What you can accomplish with the control panel (one uses WHM/cpanel, the other Plesk).

Any comments / pointers / tips would be appreciated - including recommendations of other possible candidates that I haven't already ruled out.

whm/cpanel resller panels are pretty comprehensive, you can even (provider permittied) set up shell accounts/ dedicated ips/ name servers/ssl etc ..

whm is a pretty comprehensive control panel, around 90% of what normally needs to be done at shell level can be done thru whm/cpanel (but thats really from a root whm perspective).

Their 14.99 package doesnt offer as much as your candidates but the 7.99/month package they offer might be suitable for you unless you need the big storage.

Have used dream-hostings normal hosting packages for years and found them excellent. Support is always quick and helpful when i've needed to ask them anything. They just need to update their website as it's a bit 2001!

I would suggest looking at Nethosted. I have been with them almost 2 years, and apart from the fact that they don't support Ruby on Rails I have been very satisfied.

If you want to see how responsive their support is, head on over to their forums. A normal response time is 10-20 minutes!

I recommend that you also look at www.tsohost.co.uk. I have been with them for over two years and they are very good. Excellent support, even out of hours.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. Unfortunately no-one has answered my actual question, but I'll check out the other options suggested. I also appreciate the notes on WHM.

Ive been with Avagoo.com for about 2 years with their reseller package and can tell you they are great, ive had no problems with them at all & support is fast too

They even helped me install a script that i couldnt get too work (i was using wrong mysql database details)

cPanel & WHM have more features too - use Avagoo.com

cpanel/whm is what i use on my dedicated server, you'll want to check out http://www.whmcs.com/ which can automate the sign up and domain registration process for your customers.

the cpanel/whm interface is a lot faster than plesk but plesk is more sensible, you have one login for all levels of user where as WHM is the server/reseller side of things and cpanel is the customer side. cpanel is better featured though plesk is catching up.

My instant response would be to say "whichever uses WHM/cPanel" without knowing anything else.

I've used a few different reseller services, some large, most small, with control panels from DirectAdmin, Ensim, Plesk, WHM/cPanel and LXAdmin (on VPS platform) and have found WHM/cPanel to be easy for me and my clients.

It's been a while since using Plesk, so they may have made it a bit more friendly, but all control panels have similar functions - setting e-mail forwarders, parking domains, etc. WHM/cPanel often has Fantastico (s/w installer) which makes it quite easy to install photo gallery or other software - far easier than manual installation.

Others might have some script install facility, but I haven't seen anything which compares with Fantastico (I assume it is offered on the service you found - if not, well, it might be a useful option to have, even if they charge a small fee for it).

Have used neither of the firms you mention - and _no_ plans to recommend some other to add to the mix for you(!)
