Photo Gallery Help and Suggestions Please

I was having a look at this site - http://www.sharleenspiteri.co.uk/gallery - purely for research purposes you understand <pant>hehe</pant>

As much as I like Sharleen, I really like her gallery and was wondering if anyone can give me any clues as to how to create a similar style gallery that could have descriptive txt underneath the photos. The extent of my gallery at the moment is Coppermine and I'd really like to update it so any advice, suggestions or thoughts would be fantastic. My coding of HTML and CSS is good, but I really don't have any great knowledge of anything else.

Look on some software sites for free gallery makers or to get it looking like that one you may need to pay. You make the gallery and upload it to your web space. That's what i do .

Assuming you would like the images on your site indexed by search engines, galleries like the one on Sharon's site are not ideal. Take a look at how many of those images are indexed Google image search

Absolutely none and likely to remain that way, so why not stick to using your knowledge of HTML/CSS. You can make great website galleries that are accessible to search engines, along with all people. Some run with javascript disabled, other no flash, how about the growing number of mobile devices.

Can't get on the site I want, may be down but there's a basic example here that I recall for this holiday chateau Looks like the images aren't great but you will get the idea. This type of gallery can be adapted to look however you wish and include text.

Compare the image indexing for the chateau Google image search 2 and you will see the difference.

Looking at the coding approach on the chateau site, may not be the way to go but the principle is right. Try a Google search for Stu Nicholls, doubt his site will be down for long (maybe I'm trying the wrong URL). There are great examples on there to get you started.
