Gallery Help Please

Having lurked on these boards for years and occasionally posting as anonymous, finally I have taken the plunge and registered.

I was looking through this gallery here and really like it - the way it scrolls and that you can put text along the bottom. Can anyone tell me what this is, where to get it, I really like it and would love something like this on my site.

The beeb use some custom javascript to produce the effects, but there are libraries out there with similar effects. For instance;

Obviously, you'd need to know javascript to implement them. Douglas Crockfords 'The JavaScript Programming Language' on yahoo theater is as good a place as any to start.
