eCommerce recommendations

[link to this post]

I rather think that I'm asking the impossible but here goes.

I've set up a small site for a relative but having got that sorted to his satisfaction, he now wants a shop. I've spent several afternoons and evenings looking at Zen Cart and have got myself thoroughly confused and am on my 3rd clean install. It's way o.t.t. for his needs (and my brain) - 5 categories with between 3 and 5 items in each which won't change more than once or at the most twice in a year and then only the price. No bells and whistles, just view the product add to cart and buy it securely.

I looked at Cube Cart as well but also had problems with that, mainly with getting V.A.T to display and get added into the shopping cart calculations.

Question is what is the simplest 'on-line shop' available? Any pointers would be welcome.

Hi

You aren't obliged to use specialist software because a few items are being sold. For cases like this nothing wrong with just creating a template page/pages in standard format with buttons to a paypal cart or whatever.

Fewer site management issues or search optimisation issues, which you inevitably need to learn to work round with most specialist software.

Yes thanks for that suggestion it would make sense. I already have all the products and prices in the site. I'll investigate Paypal or other options. Adding ~20 "buy it now" buttons would really make life much easier 8^)
