domain names

Sorry to anyone thinking this off topic, but it seemed a reasonable choice given web design and hosting often tied in with buying domains for oneself or clients.

Just curious to know whether anyone has started looking at pricing for the "new" domains such as .guru, .web, etc There are loads of new domains and I can see some I may be interested in, but as yet only a few UK firms seem to be even mentioning them...

The following are a few due to launch in Q2: .bet .bingo .casino .fun .game .games .life .poker .rich

Because these new domains are 'top level' they will be priced quite highly. Remember a .com can be had for £8/year and a .uk can now be had for a single year, that makes it the cheapest at £3/year.

It looks like the domains will match .co and .tv prices at £20+ per year. For a business that's fine, for personal use it's high. In my opinion.

It does say "You can see the pricing for domains launching soon by hovering over the domain extension above" but I can't see what this refers to.

I found around a dozen and a half at about $23 {on name.com}, and another 2 dozen costing more (but I doubt any individuals would be after .diamonds .limo .holdings or .ventures at $60, while some others may easily be tempted at $20 for .sexy )
