Hosting Suggestions (due to TSOHost Gridhost retirement)

[link to this post]

Hello.

I've received notice that TSOHost are retiring Gridhost which I've used for years to host 4 domains and all the email accounts (but no websites). Some of the domains are registered through them, others with other registrars. I'm not particularly looking forward to having to migrate to something or somewhere else.
I currently pay them for just a single 'cloud web hosting' service which can host 4 domains - the equivalent cpanel offering they have is double the price if I stay with them. And I'd still have to migrate everything myself to the new service.
So, does anybody have any suggestions of which hosting companies too look at / avoid please?

These are all just personal use if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

I migrated from TSOHost to HostXNow (formerly StableWebs) a couple of years ago and it was fairly painless, the prices are good and the support is excellent.

Thank you - that's good to know. HostXNow are already on my shortlist (in fact, a very short list of just 1 so far!).

Good riddance, the Gridhost platform was poor with frequent "micro" outages and unreliable databases. I switched an account from Gridhost to their cPanel service a couple of years ago and things were much better.

Hard to recommend it now though, since they do not bundle free SSL with it.

We’ve been with Hostinguk.net for a number of years. Responsive and reasonably priced with a number of options.

Just for info for the OP, HostXNow does include free SSL.

I've just completed the move over to TsoHost cpanel from Gridhost hosting and I'm finding it quite surprising how much of an improvement in responsiveness of the site I'm seeing.

I needed some help from support staff but they were, as always, very patient and professional (although I could tell that it's a busy time for them smile )

A good experience from my point of view.

Thanks for the replies.

I did go with HostXNow and completed the migration last week (with a day or 2 to spare). Was pretty straightforward overall - just getting used to different options. Things do seem better, faster - hopefully don't need to think about it again for a long time.

Just checked out HostXNow, very impressed.
