WordPress via CPanel

[link to this post]

Good Morning,

I currently have two domains which I can use with my hosting plan. I wanted to do three things.

1: Direct the primary account domain to the secondary account domain
2: Install and use WordPress on the secondary domain
3: Learn how to use WordPress

I have atm installed WordPress on the primary domain in order to get use to it, but I am struggling to work out how to use it.

My main objective is to start a blog about my hope to create a smart home, following the installation of FTTP. I want to document the FTTP install process and then the process of setting up and configuring my smart home step by step.

Any advice on the above issues would be most appreciated. smile

CJT.

Currently on TalkTalk Fibre 150 (G.Fast) - Moving to Aquiss FTTP 500!

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps.

For anything wordpress related you are best looking on wordpress.org - though if you do a websearch there are plenty of other good resources.

I stopped using WHM/Cpanel several years ago when they significantly hiked the licence fees( (would have more than doubled my monthl bill for my VPS) . When you say secondary domain do you mean a parked domain on your primary or do you have 2 seperate control panel logins?
With parked domains you can set it to either just point to the primary's web root or to subdirectory. You can also set up a permanent redirect so any web requests to primary get rewritten to secondary's name. Again with Cpanel a quick webserach should tell you everything you need to know if you can't easily find it in the documentation.

Thanks bloodycat, I’ll have a look at WordPress.org for advice.

Yes I meant a parked domain, not a second account.

I’ll have a look into that as well.

aslo its worth looking at wordpress.com to do some test accounts and get used to wordpress. The Guttenberg block system does take some getting used to.
