All,
Looking to get a new ISP, and I seem to like the look of Eclipse for price and levels of peak usage etc and the FUP.
Can anyone provide any feedback on them and whether the connection is worth the money? I was thinking of the Evolution Option3 and will be using P2P fair bit, as well as torrents etc, plus lots of general surfing and usage.
Would Option 3 surfice? I ideally want to be paying less than 25/month.
Also I have seen the Bulldog setups but little worried about the phone line etc that you HAVE to have with it.
Cheers
Andy

Mate of mine had 2 lines into the house one for him one for his dad,
both with eclipse.
he got a steady 115KBs download no matter the time of day on max, his dad gets (he is still with them) a steady 600KBs on max. so take your pick..........

I left them a week or so ago, and my speed doubled so i wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Having said that only Eclipse and UKFSN have offers that suit my needs, though UKFSN has the same thing as Eclipse Evo3 for 19.99 instead of 24.99

This "max" thing is what? An ISP package or do you mean maximum download speed?

Althought the peak hours are better for eclipse, i.e. from 6pm to midnight.
depends on how you look at it, eclipse has peak hours at the weekends as well, UKFSN is off peak all weekend

im hearing terrible things about eclipse now!
Oh dear, from whom? and what?
just read the eclipse forum, hard to find a good thread!

Any other ISPs your thinking of then?

I'm a student too lol I just schedule everything to download during off peak hours and leave my computer running most of the time
thats the thing, my speed doubled when i migrated away to ukfsn, p2p included, and i changed nothing at my end, so while they say they don't throttle ports, my guess is they do

Don't use them, they have very poor customer service and there technical support is a joke.
They are not very honest, they told people on one of there old packages, flex, that they was not traffic shaping them but they was and most was affected. There is traffic shaping on all eclipse broadband, so poor P2P speeds.
Also eclipse are movng customers to LLU without there knowledge and some can't get there MAC codes now.
Stay away from eclipse, they was good once but now they are just rubbish.
Try AOL or something like them.

Eclipse P2P is heavily throtled from 8AM to midnight, so if you're into P2p (which I am not) then avoid Eclipse.

Forget Eclipse, as others have mentioned, slow speed, bad customer service, not interested in their customers problems. I migrated to Zen, Great speed, super customer services.

I would rather NOT have an ADSL connection than go back to the cowboys that are Kingston Communications.
I'm still having problems with their inept billing dept 5 months later even though every time I phone up they agree that I owe them zero - court proceedings next was the last one, loada carp they really are. Phoning CS & TS are also usually just as much of a scream too. Sad as it seems as though they were pretty good until KC bought them out.
