If you can get LLU..............isn't that a BIG IF?

otherwise being a doom-monger is pretty much correct.........afterall the closest your gonna get to unlimited for a decent price is a off-peak high allowance from a entanet reseller!

If you can't get LLU then you'll have to settle for a reasonably priced capped service.

That's good enough for most.

Keith_thfc: please do name the "decent ISPs" so that we all know where we stand when the day comes that BE falls. Without spending an absolute fortune, being capped greater and having lower speeds, I see nothing that comes even close to BE in the UK. Accordingly, it should be asked just how wise you are repeatedly to encourage more persons from here to join BE? After all, when BE falls (i.e., only a matter of time if general ADSL history continues to repeat itself- which would arguably be much longer without the help of questionably helpful 'promoters') where are we left? The current state of ISPs in this country, where throttling has become virulent, is not a pretty picture. And it's not getting any prettier as time progresses. Buggerluz has a point. And time has proven that ISPs that are hyped adhere to the age old adage about what goes up... In other words, Be really needs no hyping: res ipsa loquitur

(1) Most typos were made in Beijing & exported via London; the rest were homegrown. (2) I dislike being taken for an idiot. But any factual corrections are especially welcome.(3) Albeit, persons whose IQ is above 160 are most welcome to opine that I'm not as clever as they are.

What makes you think that BE is going to fail?

I have no specific knowledge to that effect. For the time being, I hope that I'm wrong. In fact I'd be delighted to be wrong.

Nonetheless, I wrote a lengthy response which was divided into general reasons and specific concerns. However, I've decided against responding in that manner. I prefer just to use the test of time: so, if in a year's time Be is offering the same product, with the same ratio of persons who are content and have not had to introduce capping, shaping or great price increases, I will happily come back to this thread, reopen it and state without any reservation that my humble opinion was completely incorrect. Meanwhile, the examples of other ISPs that were hyped and subsequently failed remain, nonetheless, far too many in number. Can Be be an exception?

Are you seriously suggesting that people recommending an ISP (for no gain to themselves) are responsible for that ISP's potential future downfall?

Now O2 have bought Be*, maybe they will "spoil" things a bit, but O2 are such a massive company that I very much doubt they'll fail with LLU. Be* will eventually be rebranded to O2 something or other, so I suppose Be* (as we know it) will end in a way!

To answer Rsharma:

(A) Are you seriously suggesting that people['s] recommending an ISP (for no gain to themselves) are responsible for that ISP's potential future downfall? No.

(B) Are you seriously suggesting that people['s] recommending an ISP (for no gain to themselves) is possibly one of the factors or conditions for that ISP's potential future downfall? Yes.
