Which ISP is right for me?

[link to this post]

I've been using BT now for too long and I've found them to be too unstable and unreliable to continue with any longer. I've been looking at various alternatives and am now feeling even more lost than before I started. I use the net fairly heavily for online-gaming as well as music downloads. Occasionally I might be downloading something large like a game beta etc, but I wouldn't say I download excessively. Like everyone else, my main requirements are reliability, speed and customer service. I can get a Max line here and also Tiscali LLU though I've seen mixed reviews of Tiscali of late. SO...... where do I go from here? I was looking at the following ISPs:

Sky (though I can only get the connect package currently as the max isn't available)
Tiscali LLU
Freeola
Pipex
Virgin Media

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Regards,

Gov

Avoid Pipex. They throttle alot. cant even watch a video on Youtube in the evening without it buffering every few seconds

Hi G, it's difficult to say without having a guide on your usage so if you say 20Gb! You could use Compare as a starting point.

Sky (though I can only get the connect package currently as the max isn't available)
Tiscali LLU
Freeola
Pipex
Virgin Media

I feel that you really have picked a bunch of poor ISP's there, maybe apart from Freeola - Sky non Connect seems to be okay bot not Connect as it is managed quite heavily. Look at the Forum's of the others and I don't feel you will be too impressed.

NewNet and the Enta resellers seem to be getting solid reviews at the moment and even though Namesco have got capacity issues I always feel they are a good choice.

Good luck - Blue

"I've seen mixed reviews of Tiscali of late."
