You will only get 24 Mb if you live on top of the exchange. I can count of on hand the number of be* users I've seen who get that sort of speed.

If you can post your line stats in the be* forum you'll get a speed estimate.

Yeah, sure I know that is the case.

We are moving into a house soon, hence the need for Broadband. Did a quick lookup and the house is 2.5 kilometres from the local exchange so we could get around 15 Mbps according to Be.

Regardless of the speed, is Be the best ADSL 2 provider in terms of price / customer service / performance etc etc?

"2.5 kilometres from the local exchange"

means nothing.

That would be (I presume) as the crow flys.

The line could divert past Somerset and then up to Glasgow before reaching your house.

You need to know the stats on the line before you can give an estimate.

EDIT //

I would also advise reading the Be forum here too, as you will get an idea of real experiances with the ISP.

2.5 km mean you will not getting 15Meg. You only get up to between 8 and 10Meg.

I dont think anyone else does 24mb

Uk Online does a 22mb package but theres more to consider than just the speed. If the throttle it to buggery then its a waste of time anyway.

Is the exchange actually unbundled to any high speed providers?

And that's assuming BT didn't take the scenic route when installing cables (as in my case....2.6km direct distance and 60m shy of 7km worth of cable - they must have had a job lot of copper, 4-5 years ago, when installing lines to this estate).
So, although I'm only 2.6km from the exchange, I can only get around 3.5Mbps.

How do I find out how long my cable is, rather than just how far from the exchange I am, as the crow flies?
