ISP for a Looong line?

[link to this post]

Hi

I live a long way from my exchange and am curently on a 512k ADSL contract with Pipex that is quite expensive for what I get.

Recently the lag has been getting quite bad, and I am thinking of changing provider.

I have tried 'Be' but my line was too long, so I was thinking of 'Newnet'. I doubt my line will go any faster then 512k (I have tried a few checkers and 1Mb looks very doubtful).

So would 'Newnet' be suitable given my situation, or are there ISP's that provide for us poor people who live in a city but still manage to be almost 4km as the crow flies to an exchange ;-(

I am not expecting a faster connection, but good support and low latency on a connection I can rely on.

I would pay

I would imagine your issue is one of customer support - i.e. you need solid support; NewNet do offer great support from personal experience so in your position I would say they are one of your best choices, or Namesco.
