That's the score according to samknows, why sky is not listed... I though Sky operate off the back of BT equipment anyway, no?!? Hmmm.

I also thought Zen operate on the BT network/switches etc... yet zen is listed in that lot above, as "Not available"... now, it seems, I need more research

Sky is listed as Easynet / Sky on that list, so if you're scanning down looking for S you probably missed it.

I personally find it really hard to see the point in 8mbit with a limit of 3GB or whatever, it's a very easy to limit to reach over the course of a month even for a casual user. Anyway, if the user is so casual why bother with MAX at all, just get a standard 1mbit or 2mbit line, the speed difference is only noticable on high bandwidth webpages or downloading anyway...

Anyway, so they can still get Zen, but what will be the advantage of a customer on an exchange that actually HAS got Zen LLU equip'? IE, what are they missing out on... ?

For some companies that have LLU equipment in exchanges, it can mean they can offer faster broadband speeds such as ADSL2+ up to 24mb.
But for Zen I don't believe there's much difference, if any, its more just a cost thing for Zen.

Yup, as I suspected (I'm on Be, so I know all about that-just wondered what the deal with Zen was) but thanks anyway.

Zen might not be the cheapest, but I need reliability, predicability, availability if something goes pete tong, for this customer!

TBH I'm concerned about Sky, and Newnet is ... a New one that I hadn't heard of before last night. (not that that would be a problem for my personal use, but when a paying customer is asking me what's best, I can't take risks... know what I mean?) Also, Hysteria, you did mention that they keep you informed... That's nice for a techie, but for this customer, I'd rather that they get no info - no news is good news in this case. Otherwise I'll get a call every time the wind changes - "Wa's dis mean then? - Sorry for the disruption at 03:00 the other morning..." Or something else, I'd just rather have it like : What the eyes don't see, the heart doesn't feel!

Newnet are at least accessible on the phone and speak the Queen's English, a mile away from call centre operations like Orange etc. Home Light at

NewNet don't keep ringing you or checking things are Ok.
All I'm saying is, should there be a problem for whatever reason, at least NewNet have decent UK call centres with helpful, knowledgeable support staff who will keep you informed of developments via email or telephone if you want.
