Is it a good idea to recommend your own ISP?

Well is it?
As where will all the heavy downloaders go next!
It goes without saying that the ISPs need the money generated by new memberships.

Why not as ISP's mostly get negative publicity; but only if they deserve it

The good ISPs give clearly defined transfer limits for each package. Most heavy users won't move to them because they would have to pay a realistic price for their data transfers.

Good point anonymous. Lots of people recently have been recommending IDnet, nothing wrong with that, they are a good ISP, but the person asking for a recommendation may have said their use is heavy. IDnet as an example is not a ISP which i personally would say is suitable for heavy use (their caps are pretty small compared to some), so it does ask the question, will those that are with them and recommend the service to each and every person next month be complaining cos suddenly their ISP is over subscribed with heavy users?

I will always recommend my ISP (IDnet) but if I see someone who is seraching for unlimited or very heavy downloads then I do not recommend them, or any others.

Indeed cavillas, i can see why you wouldnt recommend any ISP to those that want unlimited, even if you did the recommendation would be a false one as unlimited technically speaking no longer exists for the BT max products.

Also brings up another thing which has been mentioned before but quiet often the smaller providers give far better service then the big boys, its not often you see a recommendation for BT Retail, Tiscali and a few others nowadays

unlimited does still exist for MAX based services but it is now realistically priced if it's really unlimited.

Alot of once good ISP's have been over run by heavy downloaders moving in. The problem for the ISP is you have no idea what usage some one has until they join. To get round this traffic management and CAP's are applied and in some cases the heavy users are asked to leave. It is alot harder now than in the past to continually download vast quantities of stuff.

I agree and because of this I would never recommend my ISP.
Heavy downloaders probably do use the same ISP, as it would be naive to think otherwise, fair enough everyone has the right to choose and go to any ISP but they are going to have to find their way there without my help.

No, Unlimited does not exist except in an ad-mans dream!!
Please stop promoting these foolish ideas, that got this whole mess started...

Specify what you want, or get a short contract if you are not sure..
