Connection Speed - Long Way from Telephone Exchang

[link to this post]

Hi,

Shortly moving house and new place will be towards outer limit of ADSL. BT checker recons I should get 512K ADSL with therefore a reasonable chance of 1.5M ADSLMAX connection speed.

Currently I have BT Openworld ADSL MAX (in theory 8M) but not long left on contract.

Only unbundled people where I live are Sky. Since they use ADSL2 is this likely to give me a better connection speed than ADSLMAX right out at the end of the wire?

Cheers,

Lee.

No.

As I understand it ADSL2+ only really gives large benefits close to the exchange, and these reduce more rapidly than ADSL1 with distance. There are posts around saying that at high distances/attenuations then the ADSL2+ suppliers only supply ADSL1 anyway for this reason. Keep their faster connections for where they are useful.
