Double Bill when migration

[link to this post]

Hi

Just wondering, would I be billed by my current ISPd and new ISP whilst in the process of migrating. I am thinking of migrating now but my April/May charges has already been deducted by my current ISP. I understand my charges starts with my new ISP on the day I request a migration to them. How does it work.

Thanks

It varies. Your new ISP will start charging you from the day you actually migrate. The old ISP will need notice, but the amount of notice varies. You'll need to check your current ISP's T&Cs. How this fits in with the timing of the MAC also varies. You'll need either to check with your current ISP or see if that has been covered on that ISP's forum here, if they have one. Given the possible variables in the migration process you will almost certainly have to pay two ISPs simultaneously for a week or two, unless you're prepared to risk losing the service altogether.

You would need to check the T&Cs of you current provider. You will be charged by your new provider when you palce your order or on your migration date depending on company, but some ISPs will give you a refund for unused days that you may have already paid for when you migrate, but you would need to check that with them.
