Short term line/isp

Hi All

I've been away in the US for the last few years, but will be back in the UK for 4 months from June onwards. The place where I'll be staying doesn't have phone service right now, but I'm told it does have a (non-active) line running to it.

BT now appear to want a 12 month commitment for new lines so this 4 month visit is starting to look expensive.

Any thoughts on the best option? I don't need phone service if there's a cheaper line-only option, but I do need:
* Very reliable isp
* Fast as possible (max up/downstream)
* High cap, if any (40Gb+)

Is there any alternative these days to having BT provide the line? I'm a bit out of touch :-)

You can go with an LLU provider to avoid BT - though I don't think any of them offer a monthly contract.

An Entanet reseller should fit your requirements: 30Gb peak, 300Gb off-peak, up to 8M downstream and 440K upstream (depending on your line and exchange),

Hi I'm looking for one of these too, I have a BT line (contract for at least the next 2 months) and own and ADSL modem, but don't want to lock into a long contract

Are you sure theres no one offering a short (say <=3months) contract without a connection fee?

I'm looking for >=1mb speed =>5Gb or unllimited download/month

I very much doubt that there is - if there was you would no doubt pay extra each month so that they could get back the connection/termination fees that they have to pay BT.

I have now selected Newnet as a supplier, they offered the closest I could hope for.
