Can someone confirm - My friend mentioned that I need to install the AOL software is this correct? Can't I just configure the router and that's it?

Cheers.

Probably best to ask in the AOL forum here.

yes, but you said "modem". You don't need the AOL cheeseware if you're prepared to download modem drivers or configure the router yourself.

AOL provided me a free Netgear DG834G wireless router with AOL silver, as far as I know this is still the one they are sending out, but ask in the AOL forum to check if this is still the case.

I have not got AOL software installed, you don't even need it to use live help now, or so I'm told.

Also checkout quidco.com for a cashback.

Note that AOL now has a FUP. Rumoured to be 20 gigabytes a month on AOL silver.

Super Guys!

Thanks very much for the info. I don't think we'll ever go over the 20G. I'd rather be on the safe side.

I'm also happy to see that you don't need to use their software! - well for us anyway.
