Not sure which way to go..

[link to this post]

Moving from Pipex (surprise surprise).

No LLU available on my exchange and I'm not currently on a MAX product. Due to distance from exchange have only been able to get 1mg with Pipex. Most checkers say a max of 1.5mg for me.

Line Attenuation 57.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 9.1 db 15.0 db

Should I be concerned about moving to a MAX product with these stats?

I play alot of online games and don't want to find my pings suffer!

Oh.. and thinking of Plusnet

Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi with those stats on a max connection you should be able to squeeze a little more speed out, maybe about 1.8mb. but have you looked at your internal wiring? As sorting this out can sometimes help. if you can plug in your router to the test socket on the BT Master socket (remove small loower part of face plate, and there should be a socket behind it) as this will remove temp any extensions, and them post your stats again as there may be a difference.
If no difference, then MAX should still be OK for you.

As vivaciti says, you should see an improvement in speed on Max with those figures. Check out IDNET and some of the Entanet sellers though. You will find them much better than the bigger companies, for support and Customer Serveice.

For the OP:-
In reply to:

Of which vivaciti is one and always helpful on these forums without being pushy. (And I am on Newnet and have never had anything to do with vivaciti).

Thanks for the advice guys. Gives me some things to think about.

I'll also try the test socket out and see what stats I get.
