Which Should I Sign Upto???????

[link to this post]

I'm currently with PIPEX since 2004, and paying 23.00 p/m for just Internet access. I'm looking to switch to another ISP which will be far more cheaper.

I've been on the www.samknows.com website to check the availability in my area. These are the results:

Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.

The following services are available in your location:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
O2 / Be LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU

I was considering BT Total Broadband but reading on the forums alot of negative comments on BT.

Your comments will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Dav1

It would help more to know, what sort of budget you are looking at and also what sort of amounts of data are you running over your line in a month.

In reply to:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
O2 / Be LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU

This is a no brainer - its O2 or be* depending on whether or not you already have an O2 mobile contract.

Get far more for your money on O2/be* LLU than with BT Max (woefully over-congested at peak times) and I wouldn't trust Talk Talk with a contract to buy a bag of crisps - let alone something as important as broadband.

This website is a godsend. I'm in almost exactly the same position as the initial post here. I've been with Pipex since March 2004, paying the same 24 per month.

There's been nothing wrong with the service so far, but it does seem I can get a much better deal now from elsewhere so I've been considering moving. My options seem to be:

AOL: Enabled
O2 / Be: Enabled as of 30/11/2006
C&W / Bulldog: Enabled as of 13/05/2006
CPW / TalkTalk: Enabled
Pipex: Not available [Is this because Tiscali are behind Pipex now?]
Sky / Easynet: Enabled as of 27/06/2006
Tiscali: Enabled as of 25/07/2007
Tiscali TV: Enabled

so would you still recommend O2 / Be ?

If you have/or want Sky TV - then Sky on LLU would possibly be your best option.

Sky LLU ranges from 0 a month to 10 a month - plus you can get a free phone calls deal - also Sky can bill you the line rental cheaper than BT will (even though it is still a BT line).
