[link to this post]

Im looking for an ISP who can activate a non active BT line?

Orange say they need an actieve BT line.

I have been told some ISPs can do it but im not sure who.

If BT activate it im stuck in a 12 month contract with them

The phone line needs to have line rental paid on it.

BT Retail is one option but 12 month contract.
Wholesale Line Rental providers such as Post Office, Madasasfish and others are an option and may not all carry the 12 month contract.

NOTE: You will need to maintain the payment for the line rental otherwise the ADSL will get cut off

I am aware I need to pay line rental its just im looking for a company that will do line rental/broadband in one package that is about to activate an unactive BT line and who isnt BT.

Been with BT for 2 years - never had a phone plugged into the socket EVER and im was still getting phantom phone calls on my bill!

Looking for one package, all you're doing is massively limiting the amount of ISPs to consider. Many of the best ISPs don't do phone packages. If you're really against paying rental to BT go with the Post Office or similar and you've still got the pick of ISPs.

Plusnet, madasafish are two, there will be more like Post Office too.

If the line is an active BT one currently then providers like Talk Talk and Tiscali will also do bundles.

Going for it all with one company can mean its cheaper but more limited choice

If you are getting BT bills for the line then it is already active!! The fact you don't use it is irrelevant.

Or do you mean you have moved from that address and don't have a phone service at the new one?

As for tying the rental and broadband onto one supplier that is often a recipe for poor internet. You can switch your rental and call billing to someone like the Post Office, cheaper than BT, but their (newish) broadband doesn't get good reports here.

Any good ISP will still regard it as a BT line as that is actually/physically what it is, BT Openreach.

What are your broadband requirements? High download limits or gaming pings or consistent high speeds (depending on what your line is capable of) or lowest possible cost (and possibly low quality)?

Put your phone number or post code into here and post the results and we will be able to recommend a suitable ISP.

TT can activate a non active BT line but currently only for Home Movers (ie existing TT customers).
