New ISP

[link to this post]

Well I've been with Enta for about 6 months now and the service is getting worse so I'm looking for a new ISP. My exchange only has one LLU and that is TalkTalk. I was looking at either Sky or UKOnline. Any others to consider? I probably download about 50Gb a month.

TIA

If the only LLU on your exchange is TalkTalk then you're not going to get UK Online, and the only Sky product available will be Sky Connect which isn't great. This means that in order to get a decent service with 50GB usage you'll be looking at paying a lot more than you're paying Enta.

Zen 8000 Pro will give you 50GB for 35 a month.

IDNet Home Supermax gets you 60GB a month, but only 30GB between 9am and midnight, again for 35 a month.

Newnet Business B will again get you 50GB but will set you back 45 a month.

So you need to ask yourself, is not having the peak time slowdown on Enta worth paying almost double for (assuming you're on the 20 package)? If you want more consistent speeds and 50GB a month you're going to have to pay for it.

EDIT: Is it just the off peak speeds that are suffering or during the day as well? If so post your line stats and a result from the BT speed tester at http://speedtester.bt.com

Regards,
Steve

Ok thanks for the replies, I thought you could get UKOnline through BT's IPStream? I'll take it you can't

I have to say it isn't too clear from their website but IPStream and LLU offerings will be two very different things. I know they used to do non-LLU but whether they still do since Sky bought them I'm not so sure.

Hi there,

Our Broadband Your Way Option 4 product may suit. You get 40GB allowance to use between 8am and midnight, with usage outside of this time not counted (ideal for scheduling large downloads). It's a monthly contract and comes in at 29.99.

Hi Chuffer

You might be able to get UW LLU on your exchange. Comes in at under 27 for "unlimited" including line rental and free weekend calls. 40GB allowance is under 22. Check out the site and see if you can get LLU.

Good luck
