TalkTalk "Even Better Broadband"

[link to this post]

As a talktalk customer (generally satisfied) for both broadband and phone, I have just received a letter about the company upgrading my broadband connection over the next 25 days.

It promises up to 8 mb, but I seem to recall that this was promised when I took up my contract just over 18 months ago and my speeds have consistently been Down 1.8 mbps and Up 0.2 mbps.

The "new service" charge will be increased to 12.99 a month, compared to 10 at the moment.

I am at the end of my 18 month agreement and therefore I can switch. I would appreciate any comments or advice. thanks Mike

Only you can decide if you are happy with the service and can stomach a new 18 month contract.

I suspect TalkTalk is only suitable for light broadband users (averaging say less than 5GB per month). If you expect your usage to grow it might be worth your while considering Sky (if you have Sky TV and Sky have unbundled your exchange) or Be/O2.

Doesn't sound like LLU is coming to you, but rather they are regrading you from Home 2000 to Max i.e. the actual up to 8Meg service.

Max is actually cheaper to buy than Home 2000, but you may cost them more if you use the connection more, so hence why they want to charge you more.

Would I accept a new 18 month contract and the price change, all depends on what the telephone deal was worth to me.

What is your exchange, and when you say you already have broadband and phone with them, does the 10 include the line rental or is that separate - paid either to TT or BT?

Bob: Demon dialup >> Freeserve dialup >> BT Broadband >> Prodigynet >> Newnet >> O2 Standard.
