Which ISP, unlimited, fast, O2 perhaps?

Hi, I'm moving house, am currently with Waitrose broadband which is reliable but not that cheap, not that fast and has limited downloads.

I don't think I want to spend much more than around £15 pcm, I want reliable broadband, reasonably fast, no limit on downloads and with good technical support/customer service. I did a compare on a few companies and O2 and BE seem to come out very well, with O2 poss a bit better than BE. (I have a feeling these two may be the same company, am I right?) I phoned O2 and was told I'd get around 8-11Meg speeds.

Should I just go with O2 or should I be thinking of another ISP altogether?

The only alternative to consider would be Sky, if, and only if, you have/want Sky TV and your exchange is unbundled.

Be set up an LLU network a while ago, then O2 bought them a bit ago now to get into the broadband business, and both are expanding now.

Be seems to be targeted at the techie user and O2 at the normal user, but the actual performance is very similar as yes - it is the same underlying network.

As john2007 says, the only sensible alternative would be Sky if you can get Sky LLU and want Sky TV. Sky Connect is a baddddd idea. Ask samknows to see if you can get Sky/Easynet LLU.

O2 is the ISP of the moment without a doubt. Only drawback is the 12-month contract compared to IDNet, Zen and Newnet which all have monthly.

Signing up to O2 completely online through Quidco (having cleared cookies and so on) gives significant cashback, and O2 Premium is offering 3 months free at the moment. I suggest you get in there fast! Some people are working out they are getting a year's ADSL2+ broadband at under £20.

Having read loads of reviews, I have just signed up for O2 Premium @ £14.68/mth 1st 3 mths free and tracked Quidco @ £70.
I was (am) with Eclipse, very reliable connection, but pricing made me think twice and move elsewhere.
AFAIK, it seems that O2 is realiable and provide great CS. Hope I am not proved wrong.

Well I find the broadband excellent.

Customer service just one call and what I was asking I knew before I rang was almost certainly way beyond first-line capabilities. I was right. (It wasn't a normal support question so don't worry).

He offered to pass it to second-line but forecast they would do the exact opposite of what I wanted so I chickened out, as I had been worried before I rang that first-line might have done the same wrong thing.

I solved my problem another way, which was probably in fact the only way.
