Thinking of joining BT

[link to this post]

I was thinking about joining BT home hub option 3 £24.46 a month..I spoke with a live chat person and she tells me there is an extra £10.50 broadband rental????? I was a bit like what!!!! We have a BT line already so what's that all about...is this legal, it's clearly a rip off if it indeed is true...anyone on this package, can you tell me how much you pay all inclusive a month..

Thanks in advance

I think she probably got it wrong (a common thing with most support people, is they're all useless).
The total price is £34.96, but £10.50 of that is your voice line rental you already pay (so the broadband element is £24.46 - Expensive, but you do get a free BT vision box to eat up whatever crummy bandwidth allocation is allowed within their FUP).

BT Visions bandwidth is not included in any FUP.

Just as well, considering the vast amount of decent programming you'd be downloading, and the crummy FUP allowance of their "unlimited" product!

Unless you really need the Home Hub and don't care about you normal broadband speeds or bandwidth limits I would think again.

Have a browse around the BT forum.

Which ISP are you with now and as a student (and more of you?) how much do you download in a month?

£10-50 is line rental payable to your telephony provider. is the same for any dsl provider.

BT Broadband is a good bundle but no good for p2p use as they throttle p2p mercilessly.
