Best ISP for P2P users?

[link to this post]

Ok I have finally been won over that I may have to consider going LLU again. My isp (an entanet subscriber) is not up to snuff. I can get up to 17.5mbs if I move to o2.
Anybody have any experience of using p2p on o2?

The 6 isps signed to the bfi/govt agreement are out. I won't be spyed on.
So no to
Virgin
Talk Talk
Sky
BT
Orange
Tiscali

So P2P users who is the best safest?

O2/Be without a doubt. You can get a 3-month rolling contract if you pay extra with Be, but the 12 month ones on both revert to 30 days at the end of 12 months anyway.

You won't need to leave!

Have a read of MKD's comparison document, especially the last page and tips about Quidco cashback.

Thanks so much RobertoS, you are with them yes (from your sig) ?
I have a more complicated technical question in the o2 forum. I see you are pretty techy on these forums. I don't suppose you fancy having a look for me do you.
I'm shameless, but I'm really lost with this and enta aren't much use and o2 just say sign up sign up.
So this place is my only hope before I risk taking the plunge.
Sorry and thanks smile

I've already replied there smile.

You really should look into the Quidco side as well. I did, when the cashback was only £25, and was unsure. But it all went well and I got £20 into my bank as the first deal in any 12 months they take a £5 fee.

At the moment it is £50 cashback so you stand to get £45. (Remember you have to clear cookies before going to Quidco on the time that you intend to order).

Though there is a faint chance O2 have recorded a phone call against your phone number so you wouldn't qualify frown. Even so, it costs nothing to go through Quidco, as they don't charge the £5 - it comes off your first cashback(s) as I said before.

Oh I'm already wise to the quidco thing. Not used them before mind. My number is x directory but then I would have told them it to do the line check. But just enquiring wouldn't stop me going the quidco route would it. I never signed up. Just asked questions.

And the cash back will only go part of the way to getting back the money I wasted on a brand new netgear (useless thing) from my current isp on the grounds that my speed would improve and everything be so much more stable on it.
It locked me out of even reaching the login screen after a week so I'm using my old router. 70 wasted quid.

Pity - the right Netgear is often better on O2 than the O2 box. Though has anyone tried to help you get the Netgear working again?

I've given up with speaking to them. I just want to move. And o2 said if I don't use their router I won't be given phone support until I put their router back on. And my isp (who insisted it would solve all my problems) and enta have put the fear of God into me about not disconnecting my line ever because IP profile will drop if I do so I am loathe to fiddle about. As soon as it stopped working I just put my old router back on.

I've got the netgear DG834GT

Assuming you go to O2 and it solves the problems then let's see how things go. It's only geeks like me that tend to want a netgear, for most people the O2 box is fine.

Does it say v4 on the label by any chance?

I can't see version anything written anywhere on it either on the box or the router. I'm not sure where to look for that info though.
