ISP with limited LLU operator presence (Wales)

I have just finished with Tiscali as Sky are now providing my phone line and TV. I was going to go with Sky broadband however, I can only get the broadband connect option which reading through some articles on here is rubbish. I was then going to go for Plusnet as it operates on BT infrastructure.......?

I would be looking to use the package for P2P, Xbox live and various other heavy usage tasks and was just wondering if anyone one has any suggestions for my circumstances.

Also Tiscali seem to quote speeds of 3.5 MB compared to Plusnet 1.5 is this a true indicator???

Any idea how many GBs you transfer per month? This will give us a better idea of which ISPs to suggest as you don't have any decent LLU choices.

Plusnet doesn't sound like the thing for you from you usage description. See this page.

I don't suppose you have any router stats available from when you were on Tiscali? Connection speed, attenuation and noise margin are the important ones.

As yarwell's sig says - MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.

We can provide a service on your exchange via the C&W LLU service, but your line speeds are a bit low according to the checkers you have used. As has been said, if you can post your full line stats (sync speed attenuation noise margin) and let us know if your router is plugged into the master socket, extension and if you have tried the test socket.
If your not sure about any of this, post back and help and advice can be given.

GB per month!!!!!! Probably about 30 gig max....... P2P after 11pm, Xbox live, you tube, surfing et al

Thanks for the wiring guide but im not sure it will affect my connection. I use only a microfilter to split the signal (no extension). Then use the router downstairs wirelessly to send the signal about 2 and a half meters directly upstairs.

No stats taken i'm afraid. However i was getting a reasonable connection from Tiscali - no noticeable slowdown when online gaming and reasonable surfing although i would have to reset the router a few times as the connection would drop but failing that it was OK considering most people don't rate Tiscali......

Plusnet seems cheap to what i was paying previously too, £15 per month with 2 months dicount as appose to 20 per month..

Xilo are quite new in these forums. I think the product they are offering you is C & W LLU. This is also offered at a higher price by vivaciti.

Both have good reports, though Demon (with many more customers?) seem to have a number of problems using the same service. Ignore the Bulldog label in samknows - the title is just ages out of date.

For reports about vivaciti LLU (they are also Entanet resellers but i don't recommend those packages really at the moment) and Xilo look in the Resellers and Other providers and Entanet forums. To ask about them the correct forum is the Resellers one as it isn't an Entanet product.

Regarding the price, is that a speed-limited offering rather than the up to 24/20/16Mbps? It seems remarkably cheap for a resold product.
