ISP FOR BIRMINGHAM (midland exchange) ADVICE?

Wondering who to get my broadband with and why? first broadband connection (cant really count my t-mobile broadband!)

BT line getting connected next week - have done some research and I can get a C&W LLU at my exchange, was thinking about going with ASDL24, found out i couldnt go with them, thought about aquiss but have since discovered XILO is cheaper... however the speed is only upto 16mb not 24mb? now I guess i wont get over 16 on either, but will i get better speeds with aquiss and will it be worth the extra compared to XILO?

anything else I need to think about? I plan on starting online gaming, legal downloading of films + music including hi-def movies, and streaming of TV.

would i be right to go for XILO or does anyone have any further advise?

also is the C&W LLU actually any good in terms of speed and reliability? also how easy will it be to set up? i have ordered a belkin sky 100+mbs router which i plan to unlock with firmware? will this work? again im not stupid or computer illiterate (lol great word to not be able to spell) but i have no experience with broadband or networking.

also if i do go for xilo will the home package be adequete or should i go for office or pro??

The home package should be adequate but as it's only a 1-month contract you can see how it goes.
Remember the speed you get is dependant on your line length from the exchange, which is usually more that the straight-line distance.

the router i have ordered is a NETGEAR DG834GT but is currently sky branded...

How can you not get a connetion with ADSL24(ISP)?
Anyone with a BT line can have a connection,your exchange has been enabled for the up to 24Mb service,you cannot get their LLU option that's all.
Have you tried the ADSL2/2+ checker on their site http://adsl24.co.uk/checker/
input either your telephone number,(probably have to wait for that) or Postcode

ADSL24 needs a BE/O2 enabled exchange for LLU, whereas Xilo needs a C&W LLU enabled exchange.

i did want to go down the LLU route as from what im aware it is truely unlimited at all times, and they do not mess around with your connection at certain times or depending on what your doing?

am i right in thinking this?

also i could get unlimited with XILO for £15 or just 3gb with ADSL24 on home3 which is £15.90.. also i dont know if 30GB will QUITE be enough and why would i pay an extra £3.90 to have a 30gb restriction compared to unlimited?

will the C&W LLU have any performance benefits? over a BT based product??

as i said i know NOTHING about networking or broadband, just what i have gained from checking out various forums and reading peoples reviews?

any advice people?

Go for Xilo, it's only a month contract and will work with your router.
