New phone line + Broadband

[link to this post]

Hi Guys,

I've just recently moved into a new property and BT refuse to provide me with a phone line because the people who lived here previously didn't pay their bills and the line is still active.

So i'm looking for a provider that offers Phone + Broadband as a package with the option of setting up a new line. I know TalkTalk offer this but i know their reputation isnt great and was wondering if there were any other providers that do this?

I do download quite a bit so would like an "unlimited" package if at all possible. I'm currently on the LVSIM exchange.

Thanks,

Michael

It largely depends what you want to do on the internet.

If you do any P2P then forget about TalkTalk.
If you can accept svere throttling at varios times of the day then Plusnet do phone + broadband. Throttling details.
If you intend to have Sky TV than that is a good one and they now supply phone lines I think.

My way would be to try for the phone through the Post Office, but steer well clear of their broadband. Sign up to O2, cheap to start with and very cheap if you have an O2 mobile phone. By far the best ISP at the moment, possibly their sister company Be better for gamers.

A relevant comparison.

Bob: Demon dialup >> Freeserve dialup >> BT Broadband >> Prodigynet >> Newnet >> O2 Standard.
