What ISP - for rural location, ~0.5Mbps?

Live about 4km away, so manage only about 0.5M down and up.

Use ~8-10GB / month

Currently with plusnet.. at 14.99pm.

Is there a cheaper option considering the poor speed I get?

They're the only LLU at this exchange, yeah.

The reason its no cheaper when you are slower is that the variable bit in the cost is really how much you download.

Given your low usage and speed i'd go for talktalk. Contention at the change is much more noticable when you have a faster service - you shouldn't notice much with a 0.5Mbps connection.

Pretty much a no to that.

The fixed speed Home 500/1000/2000 that used to be used for that are now more expensive that a Max product

Not sure which other ISPs offer ~10 GB for 15 quid a month to be honest. (though maybe some LLU service will... no landline here at present).

Not a terribly serious suggestion but if Three gives you a reasonable speed _and_ you were willing to scrap the landline _then_ you could save on line rental (assumes you have a mobile anyway).

OK, it wasn't really intended seriously but about the only way I could think of to save 100+ quid a year... probably not even worth checking coverage with dongle beloinging to someone else (friend/ relative) but a long shot...
