changing isp in small village

hello im currently with a basic virgin adsl service. Its an 8mb service but i only get 2mb due to the line im on, which is fine.
The problem i have is latency for gaming. Its never been great but now its woeful with ping over a second often to many servers.

I wonder whther changing isp would help.the only llu service i can get is with talk talk. Do you think it would be better with them or a different provider such as 02 on their basic adsl service?

Latency is normally down to the ISP, some are better than others, and Virgin are not renowned for being too great with pings.

If you mean O2 Access then that's likely to have poor pings as well.

What exchange is it?

only talk talk is available as LLU.

If not talking LLU then cheap <£30 unlimited deals will almost always have a catch to them, e.g. higher latency, poor peak performance or traffic management

If you want a better service its pay for unlimited which is sustainable at above £50 a month, or opt for a provider with a reasonable usage allow

~£20 will generally get you 20 to 30GB a month.

Trouble is all the ISPs are going to change in the near future as WBC/WMBC get rolled out by BT Wholesale, so you need to avoid a long contract.

If your total download and upload is under 20GB per month I think you should look at Newnet.

Above 20GB I suggest IDnet or Zen.

If you download a lot then I can suggest others if you say how much you need.

You could also ask in the TT forum about the pings.
