What plans do LLU operators have for my local exchange?

[link to this post]

There are no LLU operators at my local exchange. Is there anyway to find out if any LLU operators have plans to install their equipment at this exchange?

I have failed to find details of LLU plans on that site. Plenty of information on actual installations. However if broadband LLU depends on WBC maybe that explains the current absence of any LLU ISPs and is a clue as to when they may be available.

I'm afraid LLU and WBC are in no way related to one another.

If you don't have LLU now chances are you're not going to.

The widest unbundler is TalkTalk - if your exchange isn't on the list at http://www.talktalkmembers.com/content/view/109/149/ you're probably stuffed I'm sorry to say.

It's more the other way round.

It's the exchanges with good LLU suppliers that BT are likely to WBC enable first, otherwise they lose a lot of the broadband customers at that exchange.

My exchange had several LLU suppliers four years ago. WBC enabled last year in the first batch!

Samknows shows all published LLU and WBC enablement dates, but not all LLU suppliers reliably publish the dates. For example, but it hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for the replies. Talk Talk don't list my local exchange so I suppose that it is not attractive to LLU operators. Not only do I have a long line and therefore a slow connection but ISPs such as Plusnet charge more because the exchange is classified as Market 1.

LLU may be good for people in urban areas, but it reduces BT's income and therefore the money which would otherwise be available to them to improve services in rural areas.

Are you with BT Broadband? If not, which ISP?

There are many better than BT even when LLU isn't available. We would need to know what you use the net for though, in particular if you download video or music in large quantities, and whether you use BBC iPlayer/TV catchup and social networking sites a lot.
