Should I go with TalkTalk?

Hi all,

I'm looking to move my ISP and wondered who was the best at the moment. I'm on the Kneller Hall exchange in London and I have a TalkTalk telephone account.

I'm currently with Entanet and would normally get 4-4.5Mb/s but recently get 0.3Mb/s. All we would use it for is web surfing and the occasional file download (Generally for fixing my PC's, not P2P and might start looking at downloading more music or streaming it).

What is TalkTalk like for connection speeds and are they reliable? If not, can anyone suggest a company who are?

TalkTalk could very well be suitable for you. In my opinion far better than Entanet.

However the best ISP available to you is O2, and with that you would have no worries whatsoever.

As well as providing possibly the best consumer broadband in the UK they currently offer three months free and cashback from the likes of TopCashBack and Quidco of £45-£100.

I think those are the only two to consider, and O2 will definitely be superior broadband.

To be on O2 do you need an O2 mobile contract as I'm on Orange.

Ill try and posst line stats later although I know that they aren't good from the last time I tried.

You do not need a mobile on the O2 network to get the broadband. Just a mobile of some sort as they send a lot of text messages during the order process/migration period.

You do need a mobile on the O2 network to get the £4.89pm discount.

However if you have an old phone lying around it is well worth sticking a free O2 SIM in it and topping that up by £10 per quarter. Register it against the "Favourite Place" tariff which gives 500 minutes to landlines and O2 mobiles in the topup month and normal PAYG rate in the other two months. So save on your other phone bills when at home. That's what I do. My mobile mobile is also Orange. (I'm sure we have had this conversation before ).

Even if you never use it, you pay £3.33pm and get a £4.89 discount off the broadband. (£5 from 1 Jan).

In any case the question doesn't arise for the first three months as they are free anyway.

I think TalkTalk is a good choice. I have found them very reliable, ive been with them for over 2 years. If you do feel that things are unstable, or slow, then go to the TalkTalk Members Forum and ask a member of staff there to help you out. Its a great support tool.

Talk Talk would be a good choice. I have been with TT for a year of so.

I have had quite a few problems over time as I live on the outskirts meaning I have a very slow connection. However when I do have problems the help from TT on the TT forum is without doubt the best available. TT engineers go overboard to help.

So my advice is go with them, join the TT forum just don't bother with the Support service based in India.
