20Mb, no limit, non-Sky, S11 7EF?

Hi there,

I'm looing to move away from Sky. The broadband is brilliant but the TV is just too expensive so I want to go Freesat + another ISP.

My preferences are:
* 20Mb
* no usage cap
* reliable
* decent value

We watch a fair amount of online video; I don't do a vast amount of torrenting but do a bit from time to time.

I'm considering Orange just because they're cheap and seem OK - might they be OK?


Exchange is Ranmoor (SLRN) in Sheffield S10.

I'd rather not go LLU just because switching to another provider would be such a pain - however I have the following LLU ISPs available:

AOL
C&W
Orange
TalkTalk (CPW):
Tiscali

No 02 unfortunately, which is a shame since I am a customer.

you can stay with sky, all you need to is pay 2.50 more for not having sky tv

Orange is fast reliable and cheap providing you get LLU. It's partial LLU, BTW; you keep your phone line with BT, but you may get a call plan from Orange and also pay your line rental to them (I don't; I find BT Phone good value and good support). The "LLU" you are talking about is Full LLU; Orange is not that.

Orange's support is useless, like others, but np if you are self-sufficient or come here.

Xilo and Vivaciti can provide you with LLU BB packages using C&W and Tiscali (wholesale) tails, it's worth having a look at the two ISPs' individual websites.

Confirming what Cobra001 said.

For £2.50pm you can keep your Sky broadband without the TV.

you live in sheffield - i would suggest you check out the digital region network and see when you can get it - as currently every other provider can only offer you the max on ADSL2+ - while digital region you will get VDSL2 allowing you to be able to stream video

I'm sure Ranmoor was one of the first exchanges to be enabled for FTTC as well.
