possibly going LLU - talktalk only option in my exchange :(

[link to this post]

Hi

atm i am on 8mbit i live less than 400m from the exchange, i just noticed that talktalk LLU is available in my area when i checked the site it said i should expect 10.8mbit (surely being so close to the exchange i should expect about 20mbit? as i am so close to the exchange i alway get a stuck BRAS profile ever time i change provider)

anyway

how does talktalks LLU service compare with talktalk (via BT) from a few years back, i was with talktalk then they introduced torrent capping which really annoyed me, i do download torrents mostly free distro iso's and some tv shows now and again, how are talktalk with that now a days?

also i dont really fancy an 18month contract incase am not happy with the service is there any other options?

as talktalk LLU is the only LLU on my exchange i would have no other option if i want LLU am just looking for peoples experiences with it?

i would say i average about 40gb a month mostly thats off peak but in some cases it is peak

should i just stay with aquiss (£35 a month + 12 a month line rental) or switch to talktalk LLU £26.48 all in? saving £20 a month basically

I would avoid TalkTalk, don't like 18 month contracts, the LLU service is better than the BT IPStream based broadband but that perhaps wouldn't be difficult.

If you decide to go the non TT route have a look what IDNet and Zen can offer you.

Has the exchange been upgraded to 21CN yet?

Nope, you can go with ANY BT based ISP. You'd have to be clinically insane to intentionally move to TalkTalk. TalkTalk are the worst rated ISP on the site. Why do you want to move to them? What are your concerns with BT based ISPs?

i did hear good things a while back about talktalks LLU service (but that was just incomparison with the bt routed one)

just looking to see what actual talktalk LLU users are saying about it mostly especially interested if you have previously had talktalk and left then joined with LLU

If it helps we can provide a service over the same LLU (We buy through opal wholesale) our service is £25.85 per month inc VAT but only a monthly contract.
We call it surfwise complete, have a look at www.vivaciti.net/prices.php

No LLU providers at my local exchange and I've not used TT as an ISP.

I see you've got some replies from TT LLU users in the TT forum at last smile

Yeah I realised, but I was really trying to make a point (perhaps not very clearly) that the LLU option isn't worth the hassle smile
