Having had my family households on O2BB for years and knowing either within contract or once outside contractual period we'll all be moving to their new nightmare of tariffs.

Well they do exist on LLU, but it really depends on what exchange you are connected to.

Do you not stay on your existing product (now a so called legacy product) maybe at full monthly cost if you don't take out a new 12 month contract which used to be discounted (retention deals)?

Samknows exchange search, see what's available.

I would say that as you are on a legacy product (was live prior to the new packages) that you will continue to be un-affected by the caps and throttling, as per the t &c's on the o2 web site, should in the future this change they would have to inform you of this and give you the opportunity to accept or reject them, if you rejected them, they would then issue you a mac,
personally i would sit tight wait & see, pretty much as we ukonline customers are doing at the moment, as it may get dissolved into sky or may Hopefully stay as it currently is

Yes. Legacy users stay on their existing package and terms unless they wish to add Home Phone.

Of course, that doesn't rule out price rises or implementation of the currently unspecified FUP at some time in the future.

That would be the time to look around though. What the new packages do is help ensure the current excellent performance on the legacy packages is not substantially degraded as new customers join.

At the moment there also seems to be some doubt about the traffic management. kbs may in fact be kBs! Rather different.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

They do seem to have decided kbps means bits not bytes.

The result is ludicrously low traffic management speeds on the Basics package.

Yes as on the Basic package you only get a maximum of 50 Kbps (including overheads) at peak times and so in practice not even dial-up speeds and it is supposed to be a broadband package !

If I was forced on to that package then I would leave O2 along with the phone service and migrate to another ISP !

I would probably go back to Zen as I know they didn't throttle but had download caps which I could live with as I managed with them before.

I also found their customer service first class.

I only migrated to O2 from Zen to save money not because of poor service.
