Download Allowance

[link to this post]

I notice on the latest Internet advertising for TalkTalk that they are
promoting what must be a big advantage over, for example, PlusNet and BT.
TalkTalk offer a download of 40GB at the entry price, against 10GB for PlusNet and BT.
This can easily be missed in the Price War and when comparing ISPs .
Why is there such a huge difference for download allowance?

It's what they feel able to other at that price point. talktalk more than likely have lower transit costs on their own equipment in the exchange, compared to renting capacity from BT wholesale.

Sky's base package, similarly on their own LLU kit offers only 2gb, so don't assume that the cheapest LLU = more.

With TalkTalk they also have the revenue from your line rental and any calls people make e.g. XFactor voting

This can cross subsidise the broadband, in addition to the cost savings of operating their own LLU network

Hi, Orange home broadband is unlimited and they use BT white label managed services for their home broadband and land line telephone service.
