Hey guys am currently with O2 but recently having issues with high pings and throttling. My contract runs out in 2 weeks and I was looking at getting orange unlimited.
As a customer I can get both landline and BB for £17.55 for 12 months.
I will be mainly using it for online gaming and some moderate downloading.
Can anyone with orange please share their thoughts on the service and if they do any traffic management during peak hours as this will be the time I will be doing most of my online gaming.

According to Samknows FTTC will be available from 1st March, any ideas if your cabinet is being upgraded?

You either have a problem with your line or internal wiring
You are on ADSL2, not ADSL2+ and should be getting a much higher sync than that, not to mention of very high number of resyns you've had

Hi, your exchange having 21CN WBC with Orange you should get about 10,000 kbps bandwidth or more. I cannot comment on the online gaming experience but pings are usually low on 21CN WBC.

Move to Be* or wait for FTTC.

Move to Be* What;s the point? It's the same platform as O2 LLU. OP obviously has a faulty line/wiring that won't change on any move.

Orange's WBC (run by BTw) DLM will probably put you on Fast Path, as it does for me, which is good for gaming latency.
Network Management Policy
But there is something wrong with your line. You should be on ADSL2+ G992.5 and getting about 12 Meg Sync. This won't change by switching ISPs.

Current Noise Margin: 10.0 dB (Downstream), 6.5 dB (Upstream) Why are you running with a NM of 10? I'm on 3 dB. It is taking at least 2 Meg off your speed.

Did you read the OP's post? He has an issue with O2's traffic management. There isn't any traffic management @ Be*.

hi, thanks for all the replies, how do I find out if there is a problem with my internal wiring or somewhere else? My first choice would be BE but its out of my budget and also they are part of O2 whom I will never go back to again. I used to have d/l speed around 425kbps but now it has gone down to 125kbps, no matter how many pc/laptop are connected. I will also be using a different line coming into my house which has been disconnected for a while, the orange engineer will be contacting me if it can still be activated or not if yes, then is ther any chance I can check the quality of the line before I get the internet connection? as the cooling off period ends 7 days after I recieve the router and I am sure I wont get my internet connection up and running by that time ? dont wanna be stuck with same speeds again for another 12 months. Also is it possible if I can run my internet connection without connecting a handset and just connecting the router from the master socket ? I dont want wires running around at my place is already a big wirey mess (owner of a desktop pc)

by the way orange home broadband is run by BT as orange could not afford to run it so BT took over

"Bt took over" is a rather misleading way of representing the situation. A commercial deal was struck.

Did you read the OP's post? He has an issue with O2's traffic management. There isn't any traffic management @ Be*. He may or may not have a problem with traffic management, but that doesn't cause the line problems or high pings that he reports. Whatever is causing those could easily be causing low throughput.
On that attenuation he should be on ADSL2+ and connecting at between 10.5Mbps and 14Mbps. The fact he isn't could easily be thought by him to be throttling, but isn't.

In reply to a post by Anonymous: hi, thanks for all the replies, how do I find out if there is a problem with my internal wiring or somewhere else?
Have you had a browse through my Troubleshooting section, as nredwood suggested? See if anything strikes you there that might have changed since you had better speeds, and particularly note the page about the ring/bell wire.
What would be really helpful for us to diagnose the problem would be if you could connect the router, (even if only for this test), directly to the test socket inside the master, that's on the wall at the back in this pic, using just the short ADSL cable of the router and a filter - no plugin extension cable, then get the line stats immediately after connecting . That could tell us a lot about the problem, good, or might not, bad! Also is it possible if I can run my internet connection without connecting a handset and just connecting the router from the master socket ? I dont want wires running around at my place is already a big wirey mess (owner of a desktop pc) Not quite sure what you are asking there, but the answer is yes. Unless you mean can you stop paying line rental, because the answer to that is "No".
