Hi, it was today I turned it on and off, and yes they sent me another router that they said was better.The only place for a reliable test of what they are putting down the line is through the test socket, on the wall at the back in this pic. No extension leads either. Router >> ADSL cable >> filter >> test socket.
It was not connected to the master socket though, does that make a difference?
If just getting stats, which is what we need first, then connecting wirelessly to that setup is fine. If doing a speed check then ethernet connected to the router in that setup is best, even if it means moving a computer.
The difference between a setup as I describe there and anything involving a wired or plugin phone extension cable is often over 1Mbps, and I have helped several people in the past where it has been over 2Mbps.
During daylight is also by far the best time to connect for this purpose.
