Anyone Use/Heard of Breathe Internet ?

[link to this post]

I'm thinking about joining them, swapping from a "up to 8 meg" connection to a "upto 24 meg" connection as my local exchange as been updated.
I've never heard of the company before and their prices seems low compared to others offering just broadband only (I don't want broadband and calls).

Supposedly it's Unlimited and no port blocking.

The price is about half of what I'm currently paying for a "up to 8 meg" connection or if I upgraded to a "upto 24 meg" connection on my current ISP.

Should I avoid or risk a 12 months contract, they offer a 30 day get out ?

Thank you.

Well unless you found something I can't, I wouldn't be too happy about a site where you can't fine the package prices.

They have been mentioned here before. The original company went bust. Dissolved 1 Oct 2010.

The last I see on these forums is this post and the two later ones, implying that user was being supplied through Tiscali, which is of course now TalkTalk.

It could be they are just reselling many different services from BT/TalkTalk/Entanet/Daisy or wherever.

What specific package, (details of and price), have they offered you? That might give a clue.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

Thanks for the reply.
I visited breatheinternet.com and entered my phone number into "Check Your Number" box.

It came back with:

Your upload speed will be up to 2.2 Mbps

The actual line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of use and depends on the quality and length of the line to your home and the cabling within your property.

Hmmmm.

Whisch exchange is it please, and can you post your current line stats?

2.2Mbps upload is Annex M. A strange offering unless you chose it from a selection of a few.

Huh! What's secret about your line stats? Post them so we can all assess then.

How do you know you'll benefit from an "up to 24 Meg" connection? Your router stats would have told us had you not secreted them shocked.

I put my # in that site. It told me I could get 4.7 Meg on my 19 meg line frown. So much for relying on that!

They seem to have had an interesting past in one form or another when you put them into a search engine e.g. link

Maybe they're OK, who really knows unless one is a current customer.

I wouldn't migrate to them but that's just me smile

Edit: what exchange are you connected to?

An IP lookup for the site breatheinternet.com returns that the IP owner is NJP Services Limited.

I did a search on Companies House and a company with that name was dissolced in January of last year IF its the same company.

My advice to you would be to look for a phone number and give them a call before signing up.

Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen Lite 8000
Note: I don't lay turf for anyone. astro or otherwise, all views and opinions expressed are my own based on experience.

I have been a breathe customer since 1997, and subscribe to their unlimited broadband (silver service) and have never had any problems with them. Their mail server SAN did crash a year ago, but they now use a better mail hosting service. Offshore help line is expensive - true, but the uk based office in regent st , london, has been very helpful when I had issues with loss of mail due that mail server crash. I will continue to use them as I have 3 heavy users of the internet at home - and have never received any slow-down in service.
Personally, from my experience, I would recomend them. That said - it's interesting that I have never actually known who owns them !
A satisfied Breathe user.

Me too.
I've been with them since Feb, my download speeds are more than double my previous ISP and I'm paying half the amount.
So far, no problems with the service.
